How to keep this plant alive
Find the right spot
This Microsorum Diversifolium, or rather Kangaroo Paw Fern, grows on real volcanic lava. And that makes the plant care super easy. No hassle with repotting or watering too much that’s causing him to drown. You can put this lava plant anywhere in your house, as long as it’s not in direct sunlight.
How thirsty is this plant?
It’s not so bad! Fill the bowl that holds the rock for about 2/3rd with water. The rock then absorbs the water and so it reaches to the roots of the plant. Make sure that there is always a layer of water in the bowl, otherwise the rock dries out. Fill the dish with rainwater, because the rock could turn white due to the minerals in the tap water.
Did you know…?
- The rock once came out of a volcano as glowing hot lava (700°C!)? As a result, the rock contains minerals from which the plant can extract its food. You can give some extra plant food in the summer months, but this is not necessary.
